Tom Maurer

In 2008 Tom decided it was time to make a career change after more than 25 years in the aviation industry. In 2009 he implemented that decision by leaving his job as a professional pilot and attending Barnett Bicycle Institute to begin a new career in the bicycle world as a wrench. Similar to Orville and Wilbur only reversed. Bicycles have always been an avocation for Tom and now his skills as an FAA certified mechanic have morphed into working with bikes. Not only does Tom work on bikes but he also rides. He commutes by bike, tours by bike, and when time permits he also cruises the backcountry by mountain bike. Recently he has ridden the Mount Hood Hut Loop, RAGBRAI, a number of local centuries, and taken his Dahon foldie around the world in the back of a corporate jet.
