Matt has been on the bike in some form since youth- back in
the days when plywood jumps got radder with every cinder block placed beneath and helmets
were stupid. He was introduced to mountain biking in 1991, bought a helmet and learned
how to shift. Matt raced mountain bikes throughout college, learning valuable
mechanic skills at shops along the way. He also picked up the fine art of road riding,
spending long hours in the saddle to train for races. Once graduated, he spent the summer
pedaling across the country from Seattle to Naggs Head, NC. He’ s had
stints as a wildlife biologist, carpenter, ski bum, but manages to
always come back to his passion- the bicycle.
As the Service Manager at Kirkland Bicycle, Matt is continuously
expanding his knowledge and expertise in all aspects of bike mechanics both road and
mountain. He has an abundant amount of experience with suspension and disc brake
overhauls and stays up to date on all of the latest technologies coming down the
pike. His technical abilities also allow him to delve deep into the road bike side weather
it be to rebuild a worn out Campy shifter, set up your new Dura Ace Di2 or just make your
road ride a bit more comfy. He holds himself and his crew to a high standard of quality
and it shows in our work.
Finally! A wagon wheeler for the aggressive riders of the northwest! We expect several in the month of May. Reserve yours now!
